Rail Division
TxDOT Divisions
The Rail Division was established in December 2009 in response to a growing interest in rail transportation for both the movement of people and goods. The Rail Division implements rail-related policies, performs infrastructure and operational analysis and rail project planning, monitors potential rail line abandonments, oversees rail and transit safety and compliance programs, and manages the South Orient Railroad.
Donald Franks serves as director.
