Public Transportation Division

The Public Transportation Division works with others to provide a safe, reliable network of transportation options for people who use alternatives to driving alone. The division provides financial, technical and coordination assistance to the state's rural and urban public transit providers, and the Bicycle/Pedestrian program. PTN also supports the department’s active transportation (bicycle and pedestrian) initiatives, which includes TxDOT’s Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Program, as well as public and active transportation planning. The Public Transportation Advisory Committee and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee each advise the department and the Commission on matters concerning these modes.
