Public Transportation grants - state and FTA

TxDOT's Public Transportation Division administers state and Federal Transit Administration grant programs for public transportation. These grants are for specific purposes and have separate eligibility and funding requirements. The Public Transportation Division requests applications for specific grant funding sources through calls for projects.

Current call for projects

2024 Regional Public Transportation Coordination Plan Continuation Grants

The Public Transportation Division requests applications from the designated lead agencies for the planning regions in Texas for funding to continue planning activities begun during the revision of the 2022-2026 coordination plans for FY 2024.

The applications are available in IGX starting on June 10, 2024. Below are links to instructions and related information. Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. CST on June 28, 2024. The Public Transportation Division (PTN) will offer a webinar on June 11 to provide information on the application process, as outlined in the schedule below. Applicants are able to ask questions during the webinars and can submit written questions, which PTN will post responses to on the TxDOT website. 2024 Coordinated call for projects

The Public Transportation Division requests applications for the following programs:

  • Planning Assistance (49 U.S.C. 5304)
  • Rural Transit Assistance Program (49 U.S.C. 5311(b)(3))
  • Rural Discretionary (49 U.S.C. 3511)
  • Intercity Bus (49 U.S.C. 5311 (f))

The applications are available in IGX starting on October 27, 2023. Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. CST on January 19, 2024.
