Texas Federal Lands Access Program
Transportation planning
The Federal Highway Administration is now accepting proposals for the Texas Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP). Proposals will be accepted through Aug. 1, 2022. The FLAP was established in 23 U.S.C. 204 to improve transportation facilities that provide access to, are adjacent to, or are located within federal lands. The program supplements state and local resources for public roads, transit systems, and other transportation facilities, with an emphasis on high-use recreation sites and economic generators.
Any state, county, local government, or tribe that owns or maintains a public transportation facility providing access to federal lands is eligible. In most cases, the project should be no farther than 10 miles from federal lands.
Applicants can visit the Texas FLAP website to learn more and to download the application materials.
