Austin

Before a project is built, a study must be done to determine if it will fill a transportation need, will not negatively impact the surrounding area, and fits the department's overall plan. During the study phase, potential projects are analyzed to determine if they are cost-effective while also efficiently improving mobility. Some of these projects have moved beyond the study phase and are under construction.

Bastrop County and East Travis County	FM 969 Corridor Study	CAMPO and TxDOT are working together to identify, evaluate, and recommend potential improvements for FM 969 from SH 130 in East Travis County to SH 21 in Bastrop County

Hays County	RM 1826 Feasibility Study	A feasibility study to identify future safety and mobility improvements along RM 1826 from the Travis County Line to RM 150

Manor	FM 973 – US 290 to Samsung Hwy	The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) partnered to identify, evaluate, and recommend potential improvements for FM 973 between US 290 in Manor and Samsung Highway near Taylor

Travis and Williamson counties	SH 130 / SH 45N Improvement Project	TxDOT is planning to improve 16 miles of SH 130 from I-35 to RM 685 and 4 miles of SH 45 N from A.W. Grimes to SH 130 in Travis and Williamson counties.
Williamson County	US 183 Frontage Roads	Proposed improvements include adding frontage roads and a shared-use path along 183A from RM 1431 to Avery Ranch Road
Williamson County	FM 973 Corridor Project	Study will identify, evaluate, and recommend potential improvements for FM 973 from Samsung Highway to US 79 near Taylor, TX

I-35 improvement projects

To accommodate the growing demand on I-35, TxDOT has launched numerous projects, including several improvement projects using innovative intersections along I-35 in the greater-Austin area.
