RM 1826 from US 290 to SH 45

Project overview

TxDOT's Austin District is proposing improvements to RM 1826 from US 290 in southwest Austin to SH 45, with construction extending to the Hays County line. The project is approximately 4.4 miles in length. Along the project limits, the existing roadway is a two-lane undivided highway with turn lanes at several intersections. The project is being conducted to determine possible roadway improvements and right-of-way requirements needed to address future traffic demands and safety improvements within the corridor.

As part of the project development process, TxDOT plans to conduct an environmental analysis and development of schematic designs which would provide potential solutions for future traffic demands and safety improvements needed within the corridor.

Project development process

  • Constraints analysis and development of conceptual roadway design alternatives
  • Environmental study and schematic design
  • Final design, acquire right of way and adjust utilities
  • Construction

Advancement from each step in the project development process is contingent upon the outcome of the previous process steps and the availability of funding.

Public involvement

The purpose of public involvement is to share project information and updates, present proposed project information, and collect public input from the community. Public input is a highly valued and important part of creating improvements to address transportation needs. TxDOT is committed to working closely with the community on all projects to ensure that interested community members have the opportunity to comment, voice concerns, and ask questions. All input will be considered as TxDOT moves forward in developing a plan to enhance the safety of this corridor while preparing for future growth.
