The 2027 Theme – “Texas in Flight”

Texas is a place of wide-open skies, iconic landmarks, natural beauty, and aviation history. This year’s theme, “Texas in Flight,” invites students to combine their creativity, artistic talent, and imagination to showcase flight in uniquely Texan settings.

How Important Is Texas Aviation?

For more than a century, aviation has helped Texans connect, explore, and achieve the impossible. What began with a few daring pioneers has grown into a transportation network that moves millions of people and tons of cargo across our state and around the world. From large commercial airports to local community airfields, aviation helps keep Texas connected every day.

Aviation does much more than provide transportation. Pilots, aircraft, and airports support emergency medical flights, disaster relief efforts, wildfire response, agriculture, law enforcement, and search-and-rescue missions. Aviation also brings jobs and economic opportunities to communities of all sizes, making it an important part of Texas’s future.

Pick up your crayons, pencils, paints, or markers and let your imagination take wing. The sky isn’t the limit, it’s just the beginning of your Texas adventure!

It’s your turn

This year’s theme, “Texas in Flight,” celebrates the people, places, and possibilities that make the Lone Star State unique. Whether you imagine paper airplanes soaring past a hometown landmark, gliders over a state park, or futuristic aircraft above a Texas skyline, we want to see your vision of how flight inspires Texas.
