Alternative Delivery Projects - Active Procurements

The Alternative Delivery Program is currently using Design-Build (DB) contracts, which are an alternative to the traditional Design-Bid-Build delivery method. This alternative project delivery method allows TxDOT to share risks associated with the design, construction and maintenance (as applicable) with the DB Contractor.

A Design-Build contract is awarded based on a best-value approach (price, qualifications of firms and project approach) and combines various components of a project’s implementation into one contract.

Future Alternative Delivery Projects

TxDOT continues to analyze projects to determine which would be most suitable for the design-build delivery method. A quarterly report illustrates TxDOT’s planned procurements for the next five years.
