I-35 Northeast Expansion Central
Request for information
TxDOT issued a request for information (RFI) to obtain information to assist TxDOT in the development and procurement opportunities for the I-35 Northeast Expansion (NEX) Project.
TxDOT held an Industry Workshop on April 18, 2019 to discuss with potential proposers TxDOT's approach to the procurement and implementation of its business opportunity programs.
Based on information received from the workshop and the RFI, TxDOT announced, on March 13, 2020, that they would proceed with the central component of the project first and eliminating the Deferred Work Component (DWC) South from the initial procurement. Proceeding with the base (central) component ensured that the project was consistent with secured funding, reduced uncertainty, and avoided the need for proposers to spend resources on a proposal that could include components of the project that may never be implemented.
