In-person details

TxDOT is hosting a virtual public meeting with in-person option to identify and gather feedback on potential improvements to the SH 21 corridor from SH 80 to SH 130.

No formal presentation is planned, and community members are invited to come and go at their convenience.

Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024
5 - 7 p.m.
Uhland Elementary School
2331 High Road
Uhland, TX 78640

Purpose The purpose of the project will address future traffic demand based on population growth, environmental impacts, safety and accessibility improvements for rapidly growing communities.
Description TxDOT will analyze potential safety and mobility improvements to SH 21 from SH 80 to SH 130, such as adding capacity in each direction of the roadway and providing bicycle and pedestrian accommodations. Along the 17.7-mile study area, the existing SH 21 lane configuration varies, but is primarily comprised of one lane in each direction, with alternating passing lanes, varying center-turn lanes and dedicated left-turn lanes. Rapid population growth in Hays and Caldwell counties (70.3% and 25.6% respectively, from 2010 to 2022) has resulted in a need to accommodate projected traffic volumes and improve safety and mobility.
Accessibility The public meeting will be conducted in English and Spanish. If you need an interpreter or document translator because English or Spanish is not your primary language or have difficulty communicating effectively in English or Spanish, one will be provided to you. If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs. If you need interpretation or translation services or are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to attend and participate in the community workshop, please contact the project team at 512-342-3400, no later than 4 p.m. CT, Thursday, Aug. 21, 2024. Please be aware that advance notice is required as some services and accommodations may require time for the Texas Department of Transportation to arrange.
