US 82 (West of Clarksville), US 82 (East of Clarksville) and US 82 Clarksville Loop Projects

Project overview

The Texas Department of Transportation is proposing improvements to US 82 from the BU 82/SH 37 junction to FM 412 in the City of Clarksville, Red River County, Texas. Improvements consist of the widening of US 82 from a two-lane undivided rural highway to a four-lane divided rural highway. Other proposed improvements include reconstruction of interchanges, ramps and bridges, in addition to sidewalk, trail and drainage improvements.

The purpose of the proposed project is to improve safety, mobility and regional connectivity, manage congestion and address roadway deficiencies.

Schedule and funding for construction have not been identified for this project.

Effective public involvement provides opportunities for the public to provide input into TxDOT's decision-making processes.

US 82 Clarksville loop project

TxDOT is proposing improvements to US 82 from the Business US 82/SH 37 junction to FM 412 in the City of Clarksville, Red River County, Texas. TxDOT held a virtual public meeting on Aug. 13, 2020.

The existing US 82 highway is a two-lane rural highway with one 12-foot-wide travel lane in each direction. The proposed project would widen US 82 to a four-lane, divided rural highway with two 12-foot-wide travel lanes in each direction. Other proposed improvements include reconstruction of interchanges, ramps and bridges, in addition to sidewalk, trail and drainage improvements.

At this time, TxDOT has not yet determined the need for additional ROW or the potential for displacements of any residences or nonresidential structures. TxDOT has also not yet determined the potential environmental impacts for this project. The need for additional ROW, potential displacements, and environmental impacts would be determined at a later stage of project development.
