SH 288 Managed Lanes - RFQ

Termination for convenience

Formerly known as the SH 288 Toll Lanes Project, the SH 288 Managed Lanes Project was authorized by the Texas Transportation Commission (Commission) after termination of the Concession Agreement ocurred on October 8, 2024.

The Commission determined that termination for convenience of the Concession Agreement was in the best interest of TxDOT and control of the Project reverted control back to the Department. The Commission has also authorized the Texas Transportation Finance Corporation (a non-profit corporation created by the Texas Transportation Commission) to further develop and operate the Project.

Initial authorizations and approvals

On April 26, 2012, the Texas Transportation Commission (TTC), in Minute Order 113075, authorized the issuance of a request for qualification (RFQ) to develop, design, construct, finance, operate, and maintain tolled lanes, general purpose lanes, and associated facilities along an approximately 10.3-mile segment of SH 288 from US 59 to the Harris County line at Clear Creek in Harris County.

On May 21, 2013, TxDOT held a Concession Pre-QS Workshop. Documentation of these events are available in the support documents links in the section below.
