Traffic impacts

To provide the most accurate information about upcoming traffic impacts, the project team will provide as much notice as possible for lane closures and traffic switches. See below for a live map of traffic closures in San Antonio.

Loop 1604 North Expansion lane closures

Throughout construction of these improvements, drivers will experience temporary traffic shifts and overnight lane closures on the mainlanes and frontage roads, as well as temporary daytime and overnight ramp closures.

Daytime work is anticipated to take place Mondays through Saturdays, while nighttime work and any necessary lane closures are anticipated to take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., Sunday evenings through Friday mornings.

Permanent and temporary digital message boards placed along the route will alert drivers in real-time to lane closures, traffic congestion and construction activity.

All closures are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

• Construction activity continues along Loop 1604 between I-10 and Judson Road, with recurring lane, ramp, frontage road, intersection, and turnaround closures throughout the corridor.
• Drivers should expect periodic overnight lane reductions, traffic shifts, and ramp closures in active work zones, particularly near major intersections and interchanges.
• Ongoing construction at the Loop 1604 and I_10 interchange will continue to require intermittent closures of mainlanes, frontage roads, and ramps. Some construction activities may also require weekend closures.
• Long-term traffic impacts remain in place at some locations, including turnarounds at Bulverde Road and ongoing traffic pattern modifications near the I-10 interchange.
