RM 2871
TxDOT is proposing to reconstruct and widen RM 2871 from US 377 to I-30 from two lanes to a four-lane divided roadway with a six-foot to 18-foot-wide raised curb center median.
Additional improvements being evaluated include an overpass bridge for RM 2871 over the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) and Aledo Road. The proposed 5-mile project would enhance safety and mobility. The project would also include additional left and right turn bays, improvements to existing intersections, and bicycle and pedestrian accommodations on both sides of RM 2871. Additional right of way will be required to accommodate this project.
A virtual public meeting was held on March 19, 2020. A virtual public hearing with in-person option was held on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2023.
This project is not currently funded for construction. The estimated construction cost is $267 million.
