The virtual public meeting will begin at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021, and will be available through Friday, Sept. 3, 2021.
TxDOT is hosting a virtual public meeting for proposed improvements to SH 18 North from the New Mexico state line to State Loop 464 south of Monahans in Ward and Winkler counties, Texas.
The virtual meeting will consist of a virtual room and will include visual components and an opportunity to comment. Comments must be received or postmarked on or before Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, to be a part of the official meeting record.
If you need additional information, please call the project team at (214) 459-1902 to ask questions about the project and access project materials at any time during the project development process.
The proposed improvements to this 37-mile segment of SH 18 North would include widening to a four-lane divided highway, with two lanes in each direction, with a center median or barrier and turn-lanes throughout the entire length of the project. Improvements are not currently proposed within the communities of Kermit and Monahans as part of this project. It has not been determined how much additional right of way may be required or whether the project will involve construction in wetlands or floodplains.

Comments must be received or postmarked by Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, to be included in the official record of the virtual public meeting.
The virtual public meeting will be conducted in English. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23. U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 9, 2019, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
