Loop 286 Improvements
Project Overview
TxDOT's Paris District is evaluating potential short- and long-term roadway and operational improvements for Loop 286 in Paris, Texas. The proposed project encompasses the loop around Paris, a length of 15.5 miles, shown in red on the project location map below. Segments of the loop are also designated as US 82 and US 271.
Project Purpose & Need
Within this project, TxDOT is addressing needed geometric and safety improvements for Loop 286 around Paris, Texas. The purpose of the Loop 286 project is to improve safety, increase regional mobility, improve traffic operations and address roadway deficiencies through short-term and long-term improvements.
Project Details
The project is currently in the schematic and environmental phase of design and analysis, which is one of the early stages in the project development life cycle. The purpose of this stage of design is to determine project needs including evaluating travel demand, mobility needs, safety improvements, environmental impacts and impacts on existing and planned developments. Once a preferred alternative is determined, the project team will prepare a preliminary roadway design and perform an environmental assessment of the proposed project. This process includes two public meetings and a public hearing that will allow the public to learn more about the project, view alternatives and potential improvements and provide input on the project.
Public Involvement
TxDOT is seeking input on proposed short-term and long-term improvements at a virtual public meeting on Thursday, July 16, 2020. The virtual public meeting video and other materials will be available through the comment period deadline of Friday, July 31, 2020.
