Houston Traffic Safety Coalition
Houston District
The Houston Traffic Safety Coalition was founded in 2019 by the TxDOT Behavioral Traffic Safety Section in the Houston District. The coalition is comprised of different government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and business entities along with citizens to work together to make Houston District roadways safer for all road users including pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists. The coalition offers a forum to talk about what problems the community at large is facing.
Mission statement
The mission of the Houston Traffic Safety Coalition is to further safe mobility in the Houston District through innovation, education, and partnerships.
Vision statement
Our current focus areas include but are not limited to impaired and distracted driving, pedestrian safety, bike safety, speeding, and occupant protection. As the coalition grows and new challenges arise, we will pivot to meet the safety needs of human mobility and continue to work toward zero fatalities and injuries on the roads and trails in the Houston area: Harris, Montgomery, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Waller counties.
Meetings
The coalition meets on the last Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. and currently conducted virtually.
