US 377 Texas Corridor Study

Study overview

TxDOT is conducting a study of the US 377 corridor from Del Rio to the Texas-Oklahoma state line, a span of 462 miles. This corridor connects major cities, small towns, energy corridors, and Ports-to-Plains routes. As a key component of the Texas Trunk System and freight network, the study seeks to identify needs, gaps, and potential improvements to support economic growth, accommodate population increases, and manage rising traffic.

Study components

The components of the US 377 Texas Corridor Study are to

  • Review existing conditions, identify needs, and gaps
  • Engage broad range of corridor stakeholders
  • Perform economic analysis
  • Identify and prioritize improvements
  • Develop implementation plan and report
  • Estimate preliminary costs by improvement

Stakeholder and public engagement

This study will be guided through a corridor-wide Steering Committee with input from Segment Working Groups, TxDOT Districts and Divisions, the public, and private sectors.

The three Segment Working Groups are divided into regions:

  • North- This region spans from Stephenville to the Oklahoma State Line
  • Central- This region covers the area from Stephenville to Brady
  • South- This region extends from Brady to Del Rio

Steering Committee 

TxDOT has established a Steering Committee for the US 377 Texas Corridor Study to guide and oversee the study and ensure its successful completion. This committee, made up of key stakeholders and decision-makers, provides strategic direction, sets priorities, and makes high-level decisions to keep the study aligned with its objectives. The Steering Committee is comprised of members drawn from the three Segment Working Groups—North, Central, and South—bringing diverse perspectives and expertise. Meeting three times throughout the study, the Steering Committee ensures the project remains focused and accountable while incorporating recommendations that benefit all stakeholders.

Segment Working Groups

TxDOT has established three Segment Working Groups to support the US 377 Texas Corridor Study. These three segment working groups, each representing a geographic segment—North, Central, and South, as shown on the corridor study map—play a vital role in the study. Created to assist in discussing the needs, challenges, and recommendations tailored to their respective segments, each Segment Working Group includes key stakeholders such as District Judges, city, and town Mayors, MPOs, COGs, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, RPOs, private industry leaders, and advocacy groups. These groups will meet three times throughout the study to provide essential input and submit their recommendations to the Steering Committee for the US 377 Texas Corridor Study.
