TxDOT San Antonio District - 2023-2026 Rural Transportation Improvement Program
Partnership with the Alamo Regional Rural Planning Organization (ARRPO)
The TxDOT San Antonio District and ARRPO have been working together since 2009 to establish transportation priorities for the 12 county area. ARRPO is a voluntary membership organization serving a 12 county rural area of the Alamo Area Council of Government Region. ARRPO assists TxDOT in identifying transportation issues in the region and their objective is to develop and prioritize short- and long-range regional transportation plans in cooperation with TxDOT.This partnership provides a forum for public participation in transportation planning process and to assist TxDOT San Antonio District in developing and prioritizing projects for inclusion in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program.
From January to April 2022 TxDOT and ARRPO will be hosting workshops in the respective 12 rural counties leading up to the San Antonio Rural Transportation Improvement Program (Rural TIP) public meeting. The ARRPO region includes Atascosa, Bandera, Frio, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Gillespie, McMullen, Medina, and Wilson county, the San Antonio District also covers Uvalde county for the purposes of the Rural TIP.This effort mirrors a similar effort that was undertaken by the partners in the 2015-2016 time frame.
The purpose of these workshops are to provide information and receive comments on the 2023-2026 Rural TIP for the TxDOT San Antonio District and on future planning efforts. These workshops offer the public an opportunity to review and comment on proposed priorities. A workshop will be hosted in each county with a virtual workshop option with both presenting the same information. The virtual workshop will be a pre-recorded video presentation and include an interactive map for providing feedback. A presentation and exhibits showing how the Rural TIP operates and projects for each county will be available at each workshop.

San Antonio Rural Transportation Improvement Program (Rural TIP) virtual public meeting with in-person option
TxDOT San Antonio District will host the Rural TIP virtual public meeting with an in-person option which includes all regionally significant projects to be funded within a TxDOT District during the next four years, including those eligible for federal funding. A project in the Rural TIP is a project coming to your community. The Rural TIP is the first step on the road to producing a Statewide Transportation Improvement Program. The Rural TIP workshops are being held pursuant to Title 43, Texas Administrative Code, Section 16.102, which calls for an opportunity for public comment concerning the program.
