I-2 and Bicentennial Boulevard
I-2 and Bicentennial Boulevard needs improvements to provide better access, enhance safety and provide safer accommodations for bikes and pedestrians.
TxDOT, in coordination with the City of McAllen, is proposing a project to improve I-2 between FM 2220 (Ware Road) and McColl Road; and improve Bicentennial Boulevard between Jackson Avenue and Uvalde Avenue. Raising the I-2 overpasses over 10th Street and 23rd Street is also under consideration. The proposed project includes:
- Replacing the I-2 underpass at Bicentennial Boulevard with an overpass
- Raising the bridges (overpasses) on 23rd Street and 10th Street
- Changing entrance and exit ramps along I-2
- Resurfacing I-2 from FM 2220 to McColl Road
- Utility, sidewalk and crosswalk signal improvements
