Project staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide information. A presentation and public comment period will begin at 6 p.m.

Description: TxDOT is proposing improvements to I-2 and Bicentennial Boulevard. The proposed I-2 improvements include:
  • Installing a new eastbound exit ramp east of Bicentennial Boulevard
  • Installing a new westbound entrance ramp east of Bicentennial Boulevard
  • Removing the existing westbound entrance ramp west of Bicentennial Boulevard and replacing it with an exit ramp
  • Removing the existing entrance ramp to Bicentennial Boulevard (currently closed)
  • Resurfacing the I-2 mainlanes, frontage roads, and ramps from FM 2220 (Ware Road) to 23rd Street, and from 10th Street to McColl Road
The proposed Bicentennial Boulevard improvements include:
  • Constructing a new bridge
  • Constructing new sidewalks
The proposed project also includes increasing the height of the overpasses at I-2 and 10th and 23rd streets. New sidewalks and crosswalk signals will also be included at these intersections.

This project is needed to improve access between Bicentennial Boulevard and the I-2 frontage roads. This project is also needed to improve the vertical clearances of the overpasses of 23rd and 10th streets. In making these proposed improvements, safety and mobility will be improved. These improvements will also address traffic congestion and make the roads function more efficiently.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
