Project description

TxDOT Paris District is proposing to improve US 271 from Loop 286 to SH 37 in Lamar and Red River counties. The overall proposed project length is approximately 28.0 miles. Portions of the project lie within the Cities of Paris, Pattonville, Deport, and Bogata.

The proposed improvements to US 271 include the following:

  • Widening US 271 from Loop 286 in Paris to Pattonville, from two‑lane highway to four‑lane divided highway
  • Widening US 271 from Pattonville to Red River County Line, from two‑lane highway to four‑lane divided highway
  • Widening US 271 from Lamar County Line to Business U.S. Highway 271-D, from two-lane highway to four‑lane divided highway
  • Widening US 271 from BU 271-D, 0.76 miles west of State Highway 37 to 0.283 miles north of Trent Lake Bridge, from two-lane highway to four-lane divided highway

The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potential displacements of residential and commercial structures.
