Purpose:

The purpose of the virtual public meeting is to gather public input on proposed improvements US 271 from Loop 286 in Paris, Texas, to 0.283 miles north of Trent Lake Bridge in Lamar and Red River Counties, Texas. A pre‑recorded presentation regarding the project will be available at the date and time above. The presentation will include both audio and visual components. Comments must be received by July 15, 2020, to be part of the official record.

Description:

The proposed improvements to US 271 include the following:

  • Widening US 271 from Loop 286 in Paris to Pattonville, from two‑lane highway to four‑lane divided highway
  • Widening US 271 from Pattonville to Red River County Line, from two‑lane highway to four‑lane divided highway
  • Widening US 271 from Lamar County Line to Business U.S. Highway 271-D, from two-lane highway to four‑lane divided highway
  • Widening US 271 from BU 271-D, 0.76 miles west of State Highway 37 to 0.283 miles north of Trent Lake Bridge, from two-lane highway to four-lane divided highway

Memorandum of Understanding:

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 9, 2019, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
