SH 34 Feasibility Study from I-30 to CR 2312

Project overview

TxDOT is conducting a feasibility study along an approximately 20-mile segment of SH 34 from I-30 to CR 2312. The purpose of the study is to determine critical elements of engineering, economic feasibility, design concepts, general rights of way requirements, and associated project impacts.

Current conditions

The communities of Quinlan and Greenville and surrounding areas in Hunt County are currently experiencing an increase in residential and commercial development. This growth has placed increased demand on this already congested highway. Limited route alternatives, constrained rights of way, and environmental constraints pose challenges to potential roadway improvement solutions.

Proposed improvements

The study recommendations for short-, mid- and long-term improvements to SH 34 are in the initial stages and information will be provided in the Downloads section below when available.

Get involved

Because the future functionality of SH 34 is critical to the communities it serves, TxDOT desires input from users about their needs, concerns and ideas for the highway’s future. Please look for public notices for upcoming public meetings.

Schedule

The first public meetings are scheduled for Summer 2018. The feasibility study will take approximately one year. TxDOT started on the feasibility study in April 2018. Once the feasibility study is complete, a conceptual layout will be developed. Major milestones include:

  • Public Meeting #1 - Aug. 21 and Aug. 30, 2018
  • Conduct Studies - Summer 2018 - through Spring 2019
  • Public Meeting #2 - June 18 and June 20, 2019
  • Feasibility Study Report Complete - Summer 2020
