I-35W background
Interstate 35W is the main north-south corridor through the cities of Fort Worth, Burleson and Alvarado in Johnson county, Texas.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Johnson County has seen 19.21% change of population growth between 2010 and 2020. This growth is the catalyst for the need to expand the existing transportation infrastructure.
Segment 2 information
TxDOT proposes to reconstruct and widen the I-35W corridor main lanes to three 12-foot-wide general purpose lanes and auxiliary lanes in each direction. Proposed frontage roads would be reconstructed to include two to three 12-foot-wide lanes. An 11-foot-wide shared use path would be constructed on both sides of the roadway. The existing I-35W interstate consists of two 12-foot-wide general purpose lanes and two 10- to 12-foot-wide frontage road lanes in each direction.
Get involved
The public will be able to gather information, review schematic plans, meet with TxDOT and consultant staff, ask questions and leave comments regarding the proposed design, right of way, and environmental impact during public involvement events.
