New Waverly Transportation Study

The TxDOT Bryan District in partnership with local leadership is conducting a study to better understand the transportation issues within the City of New Waverly, Walker County, Texas. The study will focus on measures to improve safety and traffic flow.

New Waverly and the surrounding community is experiencing rapid growth resulting in congestion and traffic delays, particularly through the downtown area and near primary schools along SH 75.

Near-term improvements

TxDOT is currently planning to add a dedicated right turn lane on SH 150W at SH 75, and add a center turn lane and dedicated right turn lane on FM 1375 near the SH 75 intersection. These improvements are anticipated in 2024.

Get involved

Public participation is encouraged throughout the study process. Public input is a highly valued and important part of creating improvements to address transportation needs. TxDOT is committed to working closely with the community to ensure that interested citizens can comment, voice concerns, and ask questions. Please contact the project team with any questions or comments by using the contact information found in the “Contact Us” box to the right.

The initial public meeting planned by TxDOT will initiate the study process to determine what long-term improvements are needed to address the increased growth in the area. The purpose of the meeting is to share information about the study and current conditions with the community and collect feedback about their transportation needs. The meeting will be an open house format with no formal presentation.  Several comment opportunities will be available including a survey.
