The SH 18 South virtual public meeting will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

Purpose:

TxDOT is hosting a virtual public meeting for proposed improvements to SH 18 South in Ward and Pecos counties from Loop 464 in Monahans to BI-10 in Fort Stockton.

The virtual public meeting will consist of a virtual room and will include visual components and an opportunity to comment. Please note the presentation will not be available on the website until the time and date listed above. Following the virtual public meeting, the presentation will remain available for viewing until Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, at 11:59 p.m.

Description:

The proposed SH 18 South project includes widening to a four-lane divided highway with two lanes in each direction as well as both inside and outside shoulders, and a wide center median and/or barrier. In addition, median openings would be provided as needed based on traffic data. Median openings will include left-turn/deceleration lanes. The proposed project is approximately 46-miles long. It has not been determined how much additional right of way may be required or whether the project will involve construction in wetlands or floodplains.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23. U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 9, 2019, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
