Purpose The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is proposing a relief route around the east side of Pecos. This proposed relief route would help long-term safety, mobility, and connectivity needs on US 285 for both through traffic and local travel. TxDOT is requesting input on the proposed alignment and interchange configurations.

The proposed roadway would generally consist of a new divided highway including two mainlanes in each direction and two one-way frontage roads in each direction separated by a lowered grassy median. The project would also include new interchanges at major intersections and shared use paths. The overall project length would be approximately 10 miles. The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potentially displace no residential structures and two non-residential structures.

The virtual public meeting and in-person option will be conducted in English. If you need an interpreter or document translator because English is not your primary language or you have difficulty communicating effectively in English, one will be provided to you. If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs. If you need interpretation or translation services or you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to attend and participate in the virtual public meeting or in-person option, please contact Rochelle Juette at 281-529-4172 or no later than 4 p.m. CT, Monday, June 03, 2024. Please be aware that advance notice is required as some services and accommodations may require time for the Texas Department of Transportation to arrange.
