Description:

TxDOT has conducted an alternatives analysis to determine options for the historic SH 332 truss bridge, based on the bridge's current condition and setting. Six alternatives were analyzed and the preferred alternative will be presented at the public hearing.

In 2003, TxDOT, Brazoria County and the City of Brazoria signed an agreement authorizing the local governments to take ownership of the historic truss bridge for rehabilitation upon completion of the new SH 332 bridge. The environmental document for the widening of SH 332 was approved by the Federal Highway Administration in 2004 with the rehabilitation agreement in place. In 2010, the construction of the new SH 332 bridge was complete and the historic SH 332 truss bridge was removed from service. However, in 2011 the agreement between TxDOT, the City of Brazoria, and Brazoria County was terminated at the request of the local governments. The hearing will cover the analysis completed since that time and will discuss the options for public input.
