| Purpose | The Texas Department of Transportation – Bryan District is proposing improvements to Interstate 45 (I-45) from 2.1 miles south of FM 1696 to 0.8 miles north of FM 2989 in Walker County, Texas. The purpose of the meeting is to present the proposed project and receive public comment. |
| Description | The proposed project would update approximately 11 miles of I-45 in Walker County between Huntsville and Madisonville to current design standards, increase the roadway’s capacity to accommodate future traffic volumes, and improve access for local travelers. The improvements include adding one main lane in each direction, adding one-way frontage roads on both sides of the main lanes south of FM 1696, and replacing bridges and increasing vertical clearance to accommodate freight traffic. Although additional right-of-way would be required, no residential or non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced at this time. Information concerning services and benefits available to affected property owners and information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction can be obtained from the TxDOT Bryan District Right-of-Way Office by calling (979) 213-7591. The proposed project would involve construction in wetlands and would involve an action in a floodplain. |
