Purpose TxDOT's Brownwood District invites you to participate in a virtual public meeting along with a series of in-person meeting opportunities, for the proposed US 183 Lampasas County project, beginning just south of Lometa at US 190 and ending at US 281 in the city of Lampasas in Lampasas County. Comments must be submitted via mail, email, or online by Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, to be part of the official meeting record. Please note that along with this virtual public meeting, the Brownwood District is offering an additional in-person open house meeting on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.
Description

The proposed US 183 widening project includes the following:

  • Adding additional pavement width where necessary, for a total of four travel lanes, two in each direction
  • Dividing the roadway with a flush median
  • Adding a center-turn lane for making left-hand turning movements
  • Improving shoulders and guardrails
  • Improving drainage by upgrading culverts
  • Reducing slope (steepness) of ditches

The purpose of the project is to improve the safety and mobility of US 183. The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way in some locations. Construction timing is not yet known.
