Online Comment Opportunity - FM 565 Chambers County

Purpose:

This notice advises the public that TxDOT is conducting outreach to provide the public with an online comment opportunity for the proposed FM 565 project from SH 99 to SH 146 on the east side of Baytown in Chambers County, Texas. A face-to-face meeting is not scheduled; however, the public is encouraged to view project information and submit comments about the project by Friday, Sept. 6, 2019. 

Description:

The approximately 2.9 mile project includes:

• Reconstructing and widening FM 565 from a two-lane rural roadway to a four-lane divided suburban roadway with a 16-foot center two-way left-turn lane and 10-foot shoulders between SH 99 and SH 146
• Building an overpass bridge at the FM 565 and Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) intersection to eliminate the at-grade crossing
• Relocating the existing FM 1405 intersection to the north of its current location
• No sidewalks are proposed as part of the project

The project would require additional right of way from SH 146 to FM 1405; however, the exact amount of right of way has yet to be determined.  The project costs approximately $39 million.

Project information will also be available for public review Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. at the TxDOT Liberty Area Office at 209 Layl Drive, Liberty, TX 77575.

Please reference the Control Section Job Number: 1024-01-077.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
