US 79 from I-35 to east of FM 1460

Notice of Availability of Final Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI)

Purpose This notice advises the public that a final environmental assessment is available for public review, and TxDOT has issued a finding of no significant impact for the proposed US 79 Widening project, from I-35 to east of FM 1460 in Williamson County, Texas.
Description

The proposed widening project would add a third 12-foot travel lane in each direction of US 79 and install a raised median for safety. The width of the median varies throughout the project. Improvements to intersections would include overpasses at US 79/Mays Street and US 79/FM 1460 and alteration of the US 79/I-35 Intersection. Driveways and access points would be modified to improve safety and traffic flow. The improvements also include installing 10-foot shared-use paths on both sides of US 79 to improve pedestrian and bicycle accommodations.

The FONSI and approved final EA are on file and available for inspection Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the TxDOT Austin District office located at 7901 N. I-35, Austin, Texas 78753, 512-832-7387. Materials are also available online on this webpage.

For further information or to request a copy of the FONSI and/or approved final EA, please contact Hilda Ortiz, environmental program manager, by email as listed in the notice below or at 512-832-7387.
