Virtual Public Meeting - US 82 and FM 989

Purpose:
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) conducted a virtual public meeting to receive public comments on proposed improvements to US 82 from 0.9 mile west of FM 989 in Nash to I-369 (US 59) West Frontage Road in Texarkana and on FM 989 from I-30 South Frontage Road to 0.1 mile north of US 82 in Nash. The US 82 project includes a total length of approximately 2.80 miles on US 82 and 0.26 mile on FM 989. The FM 989 project includes a total length of approximately 0.56 mile.
Description:
This virtual public meeting was to provide information and receive comments from the public for the proposed widening and reconstruction projects on US 82 from a 2-lane roadway to a 4-lane roadway with a center left turn lane, and on FM 989 from a 4-lane roadway to a 4-lane roadway with a center left turn lane. To accommodate cyclists and pedestrians, bicycle lanes and sidewalks are proposed to be included on both projects. In addition, each project would include a drainage design featuring a new storm drain system with inlets. Additional right-of-way will be required for both projects.
Maps showing the project location, design, and other information regarding the projects will be available in the virtual room simulator. If you do not have internet access, you may call (903) 799-1342 to request materials or ask questions.
Comments were to be submitted by mail or e-mail on or before Wednesday, August 5, 2020 to be included in the official public record. To submit a comment by mail, send it to the TxDOT Atlanta District Office, Attention: Katie Martin, P.E., 701 E. Main St, Atlanta, TX 75551. Access to the meeting will be available until the comment period expires.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23. U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 9, 2019 and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
