Purpose

The purpose of the virtual public meeting is to receive public comment on the proposed plan to reconstruct and relocate FM 1082 off the existing Fort Phantom Hill Dam down to the bottom of the Dam to the north starting from west of Cheyenne Creek Road to the east of the Dam in Jones County, Texas.

The virtual meeting will consist of a pre-recorded video presentation and will include both audio and visual components as well as an opportunity to comment. Comments must be received or postmarked on or before Friday, April 8, 2022, to be a part of the official meeting record.

TxDOT is also providing an in-person option for individuals who would like to participate in person instead of online. In-person attendees will be able to view the same presentation delivered in the online public meeting which will be playing on a screen, review hard copies of project materials, ask questions of TxDOT staff and/or city officials and leave written comments. The in-person option will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Fort Phantom Baptist Church, 11343 S FM 600, Abilene, TX 79601.

Description

The project will reconstruct and relocate the existing FM 1082 off the Fort Phantom Hill Dam down to the bottom of the dam due to the failing existing conditions of FM 1082 on top of the Dam. The new roadway will be 32-feet-wide with two 11-foot travel lanes and five-foot outer shoulders. A new bridge will cross Elm Creek at the bottom and will be 34-feet-wide with two 11-foot travel lanes and five-foot outer shoulders.
