Project Overview

TxDOT is developing preliminary plans for the expansion of FM 756 from Jeff Davis Drive south to FM 344. The scope includes expanding the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided highway with a continuous left-turn lane.  Proposed improvements also include an overpass and ramps at the intersection of FM 346.

Proposed enhancements to this heavily traveled corridor include:

  • Widening from a two-lane roadway to a four-lane facility with a flush median
  • Redesigning roadway alignment to improve grades and curves
  • Designing an overpass and ramps to bring FM 756 over FM 346

This project will require the acquisition of additional right of way.

The first public meeting was hosted Jan. 15, 2019. Three alternatives were presented to the public for comments and feedback. The alternatives shown at the first public meeting are available below.  TxDOT and its consultants are taking public comments and concerns related to the first public meeting through Jan. 29, 2019. Based on feedback, a recommended alternative will be developed. TxDOT started work on the project November 2017.  The preliminary engineering development will take approximately 36 months.

Next Steps include the following:

  • Second Public Meeting - Fall 2019
  • Public Hearing - 2020
  • Begin Right-of-Way acquisition - 2021
  • Phase 1 Construction – 2022 (Jeff Davis south to FM 346)
  • Phase 2 Construction – Currently not Funded (FM 346 south to FM 344.  Phase 2 will include the separated interchange at FM 756 and FM 346.)
