US 271 from Loop 286 in Paris to State Highway 37 (SH 37) in Bogata
Project description
TxDOT Paris District is proposing to improve US 271 from Loop 286 to SH 37 in Lamar and Red River counties. The proposed project length is approximately 20.5 miles. Portions of the project lie within the Cities of Paris, Pattonville, Deport, and Bogata.
The proposed improvements to US 271 include the following:
- Widening US 271 from Loop 286 in Paris to Pattonville, from two‑lane highway to four‑lane divided highway
- Widening US 271 from Pattonville to Red River County Line, from two‑lane highway to four‑lane divided highway
- Widening US 271 from Lamar County Line to SH 37, from two-lane highway to four‑lane divided highway
The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potential displacements of residential and commercial structures.
Project timeline
Public meetings were held on June 20, 2020 and on Nov. 15, 2022. Final public comments and environmental reviews will be submitted for approval summer of 2024. Construction is anticipated to begin in spring of 2026. Please note that these dates are preliminary and subject to change.
