2026 Traffic Safety Art Contest

Calling all young artists! TxDOT’s San Angelo District invites students to enter the second annual Traffic Safety Art Contest, where this year’s challenge is to design a sticker that shares an important traffic safety message.

Who can enter

The contest is open to any K-8 student who lives in or attends school in one of the following counties:

Coke, Concho, Crockett, Edwards, Glasscock, Irion, Kimble, Menard, Reagan, Real, Runnels, Schleicher, Sterling, Sutton, and Tom Green.

Homeschooled students are welcome to participate.

Contest categories & themes

Entries will be evaluated based on creativity, originality, use of color, and connection to the theme

Students will compete within their grade group using the assigned safety theme:

  • Grades K–2
    • Theme: Pedestrian Safety
  • Grades 3–5
    • Theme: Click It or Ticket (Wear Your Seat Belt)
  • Grades 6–8
    • Theme: Talk. Text. Crash. (Distracted Driving)

What to submit

Each entry must include:

  • Original student artwork
  • Student’s full name
  • School name
  • Grade level
  • Contact phone number (required for homeschooled students)

Artwork guidelines

  • Artwork must be original and created by the student
  • Any art medium is acceptable (crayon, paint, marker, colored pencil, digital, etc.)
  • Artwork should reflect the traffic safety theme for the students age category
  • Do not include copyrighted characters or logos
  • Entries will be evaluated based on creativity, originality, use of color, and connection to the theme

How to submit

All artwork must be submitted in person at a TxDOT office before Tuesday, March 31st.

Awards & recognition

Winners will be notified in April 2026.

Each category winner will receive:

  • A trophy
  • A large-format print of their artwork to be displayed at their school
  • Their artwork turned into stickers used for TxDOT traffic safety outreach throughout the San Angelo area

  • Yes, please print a copy of the digital art and include it with a submission sheet.
  • Dimensions for submission must be in a 5”x5” circular design.
