Bryan District Engineer

Ryan Jackson, P.E., serves as the district engineer for TxDOT's Bryan District.

Ryan oversees the planning, designing, building, operation and maintenance of the state transportation system for the 10-county Bryan District. The district comprises Brazos, Burleson, Freestone, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Milam, Robertson, Walker and Washington counties.

Ryan began his TxDOT career in October 2001 as an Engineering Assistant in the Bryan Area Office, where he was responsible for design and construction project management. He went on to design and manage numerous projects in the Bryan-College Station area and was named Assistant Area Engineer in 2014.

In January 2018, Ryan was named the Bryan District Director of Maintenance. In that role, he led the district’s maintenance program and assisted with TxDOT’s response to major weather events. His emergency response experience included assisting the Beaumont District following flooding from Tropical Storm Imelda in 2019 and coordinating incoming crews clearing debris after Hurricane Laura in 2020.

In July 2021, Ryan was named Deputy District Engineer for the Bryan District. He served in that position for five years before being named Bryan District Engineer.

Ryan earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering in 2000 and a Master of Science in civil engineering in 2001, both from Texas Tech University. He received his license as a professional engineer in 2004.
