Beaumont District Engineer

Martin Gonzalez, P.E., serves as the district engineer for TxDOT's Beaumont District.

The district comprises eight counties: Chambers, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Newton, Orange and Tyler.

Gonzalez oversees the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the transportation system for the eight county Beaumont District. He previously served as deputy district engineer for the Beaumont District.

Gonzalez is a graduate from Midwestern State University. He first joined TxDOT in 1999 as an Engineering assistant for the Wichita Falls District where he worked in Design, Right of Way Acquisition, and Construction before becoming a licensed professional engineer in 2010. In 2013, Gonzalez became the HOV operations engineer for the Dallas District overseeing the operations and maintenance of all HOV and managed lanes within the Dallas District and in 2016 worked as a CE&I Engineer in Collin County. In 2017, Gonzalez became the area engineer for Hunt and Rains Counties in the Paris District.  He was selected as the Director of Maintenance for the Beaumont District in 2020 and later went on to become the deputy district engineer in 2021.
