Holiday Season

TxDOT's Drive Sober. No Regrets. statewide, impaired driving campaign encourages everyone to enjoy the holidays without drinking and driving. People often get together over the holidays to celebrate with friends, family and coworkers. These celebrations can turn tragic when someone gets behind the wheel after consuming alcohol or other drugs.

TxDOT asks that you do your part by not driving after consuming alcohol and by making sure others get home safe by helping them find a sober ride home or by encouraging them to stay put until they sober up.
The campaign will run from mid-November through the New Year’s Day holiday and coincides with an enforcement period in which DWI patrols will be at increased capacity looking for drunk drivers on Texas roadways.

It’s very important everyone understands the severity of a DWI. Driving while intoxicated can cost up to $17,000 in fines and fees, jail time, loss of a driver’s license, difficulty finding or keeping a job, loss of trust from loved ones, and a lifetime of regret. Alcohol-related crashes may cause life-altering, disabling and permanent injuries for survivors. It’s not worth the risk.

Remember, it’s the most wonderful time of the year, but one regrettable decision to drink and drive could bring a devastating end to the holiday celebrations.
