SL 368 Improvements Project City of Alamo Heights

Burr Road to N. New Braunfels Ave.

Project overview

TxDOT San Antonio District is proposing improvements along State Loop (SL) 368 in the City of Alamo Heights from Burr Road to North New Braunfels Avenue with additional construction along Patterson Avenue. The proposed project would:

  • maintain three travel lanes in each direction.
  • upgrade the drainage system to accommodate significant storm events.
  • improve safety by eliminating line of sight issues and optimize cross streets/driveways to promote the flow of traffic.
  • accommodate bicycles and pedestrians by upgrading existing sidewalks and implementing shared use paths in compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and Public Right of Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG).

This project is being developed in coordination with the City of Alamo Heights.

Project Schedule

  • Summer 2022 through Winter 2024 –Preliminary Planning Phase and Environmental Analysis
  • Spring 2024 Meetings with Affected Property Owners
  • Fall 2024 –Draft Design Schematic and Begin Environmental Clearance
  • Spring 2025 -Open House with Virtual Option
  • Fall 2025 -Final Environmental Clearance Anticipated
  • Fall 2025 to Fall 2027 – Final Design
  • Late 2027 - Project Letting
