36A North

I-10 to US 290

Overview

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) proposes to construct a new highway, designated 36A North, to improve north-south mobility from Interstate Highway (I)-10 west of Katy, Texas to U.S. Highway (US) 290 west of Waller, Texas, with portions of the alignment potentially utilizing existing transportation corridors. The proposed facility would be approximately 20-25 miles in length and would primarily serve Waller County.

Proposed improvements

The new facility would include:

  • Four main lanes in each direction, separated by a grassy median
  • Intermittent frontage roads where needed to maintain access to adjacent properties and roadways
  • Dedicated pedestrian and bicycle accommodations
  • Drainage elements

All proposed improvements would be within a variable right-of-way width.
