FM 1688 (Leonard Road) Corridor Plan

TxDOT Bryan District, in collaboration with Brazos County, is developing a corridor plan to address the transportation needs of FM 1688 (Leonard Road) from SH 47 to FM 2818 (Harvey Mitchell Parkway). The corridor plan will focus on measures to improve safety and traffic flow.

The plan is being developed in collaboration with the member agencies of the Bryan College Station Metropolitan Planning Organization (BCS MPO), under the 2022 Brazos County Transportation Road Improvement Program, to meet current and future traffic demand attributed to development growth in the area.

Construction is currently not funded.

Existing conditions

The existing FM 1688 is a two-lane roadway, one lane in each direction, with approximately 3-foot wide outside shoulders. There are currently no sidewalks or bicycle accommodations within the project limits.

Corridor plan development

The corridor plan would identify the long-term roadway improvements needed to address growth in the area, enhance safety and improve traffic flow along the corridor. At present, initial planning efforts include evaluating the existing conditions and traffic flow patterns, as well as collecting feedback from the community about their transportation needs.

Public involvement

Public participation is encouraged throughout plan development and this website will be updated as opportunities are available. Public input is a highly valued and important part of creating improvements to address transportation needs. TxDOT is committed to working closely with the community to ensure that interested citizens can comment, voice concerns, and ask questions.
