Notice Affording An Opportunity For A Public Hearing - I-10 from FM 2761 to FM 3538

The Texas Department of Transportation, Yoakum District, is proposing to widen and reconstruct Interstate Highway 10 (I-10) from FM 2761 in Colorado County, Texas to FM 3538 in Austin County, Texas.

The purpose of the proposed improvements is to enhance mobility and operational efficiency, accommodate current and future traffic demands and to improve safety along I-10 from FM 2761 to FM 3538.  The total distance of the proposed project is 9 miles and would reconstruct and widen the existing facility to six mainlanes, and convert two-way frontage roads to one-way frontage roads to enhance capacity and improve safety.

An additional 6 acres of right-of-way (ROW) would be required. Information concerning services and benefits available to affected property owners and information about the tentative schedule for ROW acquisition may be obtained from the district office at the address listed below.

Construction of the proposed project could result in direct impacts to waters of the U.S., including wetlands. A total of six (6) stream crossings and approximately 0.6 acre of wetlands are within the proposed project corridor. All unavoidable impacts to jurisdictional waters of the U.S., including wetlands, would require a Section 404 Permit with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District.

Any interested citizen may request a public hearing covering the social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed location and design for this project.  Requests for a public hearing must be submitted in writing on or before October 6, 2018.  Please refer to project number 0271-02-049 in any correspondence.
