Purpose:

The purpose of the Open House is to review and comment on proposed improvements to the intersection of State Highway 79 and Farm-to-Market Road 1954. Staff will show how the short-term improvements listed below might be implemented and obtain feedback on these potential improvements. The meeting will be an open house format so the public may come and go at their convenience, and staff will be available to answer questions. Description:

Based on feedback received from the August 2017 Open House, TxDOT is currently evaluating interim improvements to the intersection to try to enhance the intersection while reducing impacts to adjacent properties.  The improvements currently being evaluated are:

  • Working with Archer County officials to modify the Bowman Road intersection
  • Adding turn lanes within the existing right-of way (ROW)
  • Grade improvements (building up FM 1954)
  • Minor realignment to FM 1954 to make the intersection closer to a 90-degree angle
  • Adding illumination to the intersection and/or a flashing yellow signal

Special Accommodations:

TxDOT makes every reasonable effort to accommodate the needs of the public. The open house will be in English. If you have a special communication accommodation or need for an interpreter, a request can be made. If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can also be made to accommodate most needs. Please call  (940) 720-7744 at least five working days prior to the meeting. Please be aware that advance notice is requested as some accommodations may require time for TxDOT to arrange.
