Description

The approximate 3.8-mile proposed project improvements include construction of an additional travel lane to the west of the existing roadway and reconstruction of the existing travel lanes to create a four-lane, general purpose divided highway. The general purpose divided highway consisting of two 12-foot wide travel lanes in each direction with 10-foot outside shoulder and four-foot inside shoulder from the Medina River to US 90 in Bexar County, Texas. All intersections will be converted to a Restricted-Crossing-U-Turn intersections, where side-street exiting is restricted to right-turns only, and turnarounds are constructed to complete the left-turn and through maneuvers. The existing Medina River bridge will remain in place, and a second bridge will be constructed to the west for the additional lanes. South of the Medina River, the roadway will transition back to the existing two-lane undivided highway.

The existing ROW varies from 220-feet to 720-feet so no additional right of way will be acquired for the proposed improvements. The proposed project would involve construction in wetlands. The proposed project would involve an action in a floodplain.
