Purpose:
Hidalgo County Pct. #1, in cooperation with TxDOT, is widening and reconstructing Mile 6 West Road from Mile 11 to SH 107 in Hidalgo County, Texas; a distance of 5.18 miles. Project staff will give a presentation which will be a pre-recorded video and will include both audio and visual components. All comments may be submitted by mail or email and must be received on or before Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020.
Description:
Changes include: widening the roadway to include a center turn lane, sidewalks, and a storm drain system; improving intersections, and cleaning and widening existing drainage ditches. The new proposed typical section would include a four lane urban road with a center turning lane, shoulders and sidewalks within a 104-foot-wide right-of-way (ROW). The intersections would be improved to provide left turn lanes and the storm water runoff would be handled by cleaning, widening, or newly constructing drainage ditches. Approximately 4.85 acres would be acquired for the intersections and 53.21 acres for the drainage ditches.
The project would, subject to design considerations, require additional right of way and potentially displace one residence, as mentioned in previous public meetings; there is no change. No non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced at this time.
