Purpose:

TxDOT will hold a public meeting to present the proposed widening of the existing two lane highway in Zapata County, Texas from 3.67 miles south of Farm-to-Market 3169 to 0.255 miles north of the Zapata/Starr County line to a four-lane, divided roadway. The total length of the project is approximately 22 miles.

The purpose of this meeting is to allow the public the opportunity to view project related information and provide comments on the proposed improvements.

Description:

The proposed improvements include a four-lane divided roadway with two different roadway typical sections. The first typical section would accommodate two separate roadbeds for the northbound and southbound lanes of traffic. Each roadbed will include two, 12-foot wide travel lanes, 10-foot wide outside shoulders, and 4-foot wide inside shoulders in both directions. Crossovers would provide access between the divided roadways throughout the project area. The second typical section would provide four 12-foot-wide travel lanes with 16 feet wide continuous left turn lanes and 10-foot-wide shoulders.

The proposed project would be constructed within 130 and 300 feet wide right-of-way and would require approximately 393 acres of new right-of-way from both sides of the roadway.

Special Accommodations:

Persons interested in attending the meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs are encouraged to contact (956) 702-6161 at least five working days prior to the meeting. TxDOT will make every reasonable effort to accommodate these requests. The public meeting will be conducted in English. Spanish interpretation will be available at the meeting.
