Purpose

The purpose of this public scoping meeting is to provide an opportunity for the public to provide input on the proposed I-69 Connector.

Description

The purpose of the proposed I-69 Connector project is to alleviate/reduce traffic congestion, improve regional mobility, improve transportation network connectivity, address future population growth and travel demands and provide an east-west hurricane evacuation route.

The proposed project would evaluate a new potential connection from I-69C/US 281 to I-69E/US 77 in Hidalgo, Cameron, and Willacy Counties, Texas.

The proposed project could potentially include constructing a highway on new location for approximately 25 miles with grade separations at intersections with major crossroads.

TxDOT developed and evaluated several conceptual alternatives during a prior Feasibility Study and identified four primary alternatives and the No Build Alternative to carry forward for further evaluation in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement.

The proposed project is in the preliminary stage of environmental study and design. Subject to the recommended route option and design considerations, the proposed project would require additional right-of-way and could potentially require displacements. Potential right-of-way impacts are not yet identified. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and/or businesses.

Information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program and services and benefits for those displaced and other affected property owners, as well as information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction, can be obtained from the TxDOT district office by calling 956-702-6287.

Accessibility

The public scoping meetings will be conducted in English and Spanish. If you need an interpreter or document translator because English or Spanish is not your primary language or you have difficulty communicating effectively, one will be provided to you.
